The Indian market closed quite a choppy day of trade on a strong note and with huge gains despite see-saw trade in the first half which kept the indices drifting in and out of the red. The broader markets matched the sentiments of the largecaps in the backdrop of positive cues from Europe. Sensex closed at 16888, up 405 points (provisional) and Nifty at 5060, up 123 points (provisional) from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was up 1.8%
